What the heck is S/V Milou?

Milou is french for the name of the dog "Snowy", in the comic books Tin Tin. But Milou in this case is a 1983 Beneteau First 38, a 40 foot sailboat. We spent three nights in Mexico looking at Milou and a nice day of sailing her. It was very fun when we sailed her and I really liked driving the boat. On the third night my parents came back from a drink with the owners of Milou, and told me they had bought the sailboat. I cried so hard and yelled "take it back, take it back, take it back". I felt a mixture of feelings, BUT not excitement. I was afraid of leaving home and of the unknown.

    You probably dont remember meeting me, as it was a really long time ago. I am a friend of your family from Los Angeles. But I have two children, Matthew (teo-10) and Annie (8).

    You have to post every time you catch a fish, as I have an emotional investment in fishing and so do my son and daughter. It will be quite an adventure you and your parents are embarking on. I will be in Mexico November 8. Also, I plan to be there in May of 2019. I have talked with your father about hopefully meeting in person when we travel there.

Back on The Boat

Hey, I've been on the boat for about 4 months now. We started out in the work yard for about 3 weeks working on Milou before we could start heading south again. So I went to school for almost a month, the school was called Liceo Monte Alban. It was a bilingual school so half the day was in Spanish and the other half in English. We did P.E. everyday, to me it seemed a little die hard. Also there was no music, art and what I could not believe no library. What was awesome was on Wednesday's after school we had swimming it was so fun one day I did 24 laps, my arms were so sore I could barley move them. though for some reason they closed it for winter, it was still in the 90's! I am confused as you are. I loved that we wore uniforms no guessing, just wear it. It was also the first time I went to school for 5 days a week, I surprised my self by liking it. The Southern Crossing

       Sailing into Banderas Bay with a fresh breeze          The southern crossing is a crossing from Baja to mainland Mexico in the Pacific Ocean.  It is almost 300 nautical miles ( nm).  It took us 2 nights and 3 days, but it felt longer.  We had really good wind the whole time; and it was fun not to see land.  At first you can see land; then you can't really see land. Finally, you can't see land at all, then land comes back into sight.  I totally recommend crossing.  The water was the bluest blue I have ever seen.  Because it is the open ocean.  First sight of land Beautiful sunrises       We almost had to turn back. The end of season in the sea

My 10th birthday We have had many ups and downs, laughter, and yelling, but here we are with the season rolling to an end.  We have swam with the largest fish in the world, the whale shark. It made me nervous at first, but when I got in the water a trance came over me. I made a friend with a spotted dolphin, his name was spotty, the pod he was with swam with us for over an hour. He loved turning on his side and looking at me and sometimes tail splashing.  That night was a very magical crossing.  Spotty's little cousin Our last anchorage was full of kids we had met earlier. We celebrated my 10th birthday with a bonfire and a potluck. I got a really cool mobile of the ocean that all the boat kids made.  It made me full to the brim with joy.  A couple of days later we did a drop everything and run practice.
